Nauvoo and Carthage

We spent 2 great days in Nauvoo and Carthage. The weather was beautiful which allowed us to have a great experience. We saw many homes and businesses which have been restored to show what life was like when the early saints lived there. It was a great feeling to be standing in places where Joseph Smith and others stood.

The temple was really neat. Two 5 story spiral staircases in the front corners of the building are just breathtaking. The design is very different from any other temple I have been in. It is a very reverent place. Like a symbol of all that was loved and lost in this little town.

Many stories of these early saints are shared throughout the tours. The sacrifices they made were unbelievable. Anything extra was given to others who needed it more or to support the temple. The only thing they had was their faith.
